Case Study 1

One of our customers approached us to discuss a project they needed implemented based on handheld point of sale devices in their warehouse.

These devices would enable them to take sales orders directly from customers in the warehouse which would then print off an invoice/receipt for the customer instantly. in the past a pencil and paper was used for this process making it open to mistakes and lost orders.

A third party company would supply the handhelds , but they required wireless coverage in the warehouse to operate properly.

The solution we provided for them was Proxim wireless access points. After a wireless survey was conducted of the area, which allowed us to position the units in the best location for maximum coverage, we installed the units and powered them directly using a POE switch from Zyxel.

The customer now has the wireless handhelds operational and have reduced their paperwork for sales orders ten fold.

Case Study 2
A business requested they required mobile access to their network for their field sales team and also a firewall to protect their network from a recent attack on their server.

The challenge here was to provide a simple but cost effective solution that would meet these 2 criteria's.

The solution from Nevcom was to install a Zywall 300 unified gateway device onto their network in head office that would provide a robust firewall and secure SSL VPN connections for their mobile workers.

Using a web based portal setup on the Zywall, field sales could access their emails and files anywhere on their laptops or mobile devices.

All traffic sent to and from the customers network is now monitored by the Zywall and reports sent to the network administrator for analysis.

The Zywall 300 also has the ability to add additional services like monitor anti-virus and anti-spam attacks with a licence upgrade giving them even more services.
